In his twenty years in the NFL , New Orleans Saints Quarterback, Drew Brees, has proven himself  as one of the best quarterbacks ever to play the game. In 2009, he led his team to a Super Bowl  victory where he earned the honor of MVP. He  holds the record for most passing yards, and is in a neck and neck race for most career touchdowns with the great Tom Brady. What may be more impressive than what he has done on the field is what he has done off of it.

The Brees Dream Foundation

In 2003, The Brees Dreams Foundation was dedicated to “Improving the quality of life for cancer patients, and providing care, education and opportunities for children and families in need.” Earlier this year, the Brees family and the foundation stepped in to help families suffering during COVID-19. In March, he committed five million dollars to support healthcare efforts in underserved areas of Louisiana.

“As we work through one of the greatest challenges of our lifetimes, our health and wellness has never been more important,” Brees said when he announced the donation in an Instagram video.

The call of a lifetime

Helping people battling cancer is one of the main objectives of The Brees Dream Foundation, and on December 14th, Brees was able to make a special call to a saints fan in Ottawa, Canada. Brian Fraser has Leukemia and is a huge New Orleans Saints fan. Fraser, a producer at the radio station CFRAottawa, recently received some bad news about his diagnosis and his favorite quarterback, Drew Brees stepped in to offer some much need words of encouragement. Check out his reaction below!

I hope that just made your day. It made mine!
